My name is Katie and I am a Chicago-based freelance writer who has covered art, culture, literature, education, and technology.

As an art and culture writer, I have written about a self-taught digital photographer who made a name for herself on Flickr, an international street artist who ran amok in the nation’s capital, and two brothers who emigrated from China to build a new life in Chicago and became world-renown painters in the process.

As an education reporter, I have written about a high school’s science project that become a source of pride and inspiration for an entire school community, an English teacher who used social networking to revive his students’ interest in literature, and a group of students whose unique volunteer efforts rallied their fellow students to provide aid to earthquake victims halfway across the world.
